Okay, so this series is in no particular order of importance. These are Wardrobe Essentials we are talking about here, so they are ALL IMPORTANT! I'm really just writing about them as they pop up in my life and I happened to wear this last week on a very rainy day. Today I'm talking about blazers. I can't underestimate the importance of a blazer in your wardrobe ladies. There is just no simpler way to achieve a polished look. And no, your white or indigo jean jacket DOES NOT COUNT.  I am talking about a classic blazer here, collared and in my case a bit shorted and slightly fitted because I am fairly small in stature. Go from jeans, tee and sneakers on the soccer field to date night or meeting with a quick change of the shoes and throwing a blazer over your shoulders. Or in my case errands...where I find myself hot outside and cold inside. A blazer is also great for travel...I wear this look on planes a lot.

Have as many blazers as you like but there are two MUST HAVES {in my opinion}. One is a navy or black one and the other is white or cream. Mine in the photo above is linen and I bought it here. I just love the cut and the color goes with absolutely everything. Like I said, pair with skirts and trousers for the office or a pair of jeans. I mean...remember the scene in "One Fine Day"?...she pulled of wearing her kids dinosaur t-shirt to her meeting because she already had a blazer she could throw over her shoulders! Come to think of it, Michelle Pfeiffer's character in that movie was also named Melanie! The black one I’m wearing is this one here and is under $40. I actually picked it up at the airport in Amsterdam having forgotten a sweater or jacket. I’ve worn it a ton and could not be more pleased with the fit and quality. In fact, because it’s so lightweight and so dang warm here nearly year round, I find I wear it even more than some of my pricier ones.

So, if you have been cleaning out your closet and making a list of items you need, make sure you have your blazers covered. Fall is around the corner and you'll be wearing them even more!
